Our Purpose
The fundamental purpose of the Italian American Heritage Society of Birmingham, Alabama is to encourage, promote and preserve Italian culture and heritage with its activities centered upon Italian traditions, food, language, culture, history, religion, folklore, customs, celebrations, music and family genealogy.

What We Do
* IAHS is an organization for Birmingham and the surrounding community of Italian Descent.
* Sponsors "Festa Italiana, A Kiss of Italy," an Italian festival held annually in downtown Birmingham, with Volunteer opportunities for members.
* Has fun meet-ups and dinners at local establishments.
* Presents $15,000 in annual scholarships to members.
* Holds an annual Columbus Day Picnic at Veterans Park in Hoover, Al.
* Offers social events during the year to "experience Italian culture."
* Has monthly Potlucks with speakers, merchandise and updates for members.
* Offers cultural and heritage classes and lessons periodically.
* Participates in Italian fairs held in the surrounding communities, i.e., the International Fair at the University of Alabama, Huntsville, and more.

In addition, the IAHS has held Golf Tournaments; presented Birmingham with the "La Storia" Exhibit at Vulcan Museum, showcasing families of Italian descent and their impact; and received a Proclamation from both Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and Homewood Mayor McClusky in celebration of Columbus Day.
